The year is about to end and that means it’s time for our annual year-end blog: the Top 20 EDM tracks of 2014.

It’s been a great year for electronic dance music with tracks like “Animals” by Martin Garrix and “Waves” by Mr. Probz blowing up on radio, “Summer” by Calvin Harris becoming one of the biggest songs of the summer and “Blame” by Calvin Harris featuring John Newman becoming one of the most popular tracks of the fall.

But as we approach 2015, we’re looking back at some of the best EDM songs that came out this year. It’s an eclectic mix, ranging from big room house to deep house to trap, with producers such as Diplo, Dillon Francis and Flosstradamus all represented.

As usual, there are some notable omissions: We left off Avicii’s latest hit “Addicted To You,” which featured Audra Mae on vocals, because it was released in 2013; Zedd’s “Find You,” which featured Matthew Koma and Miriam Bryant on vocals, didn’t make it either (we did include his song with Hayley Williams earlier

This year has been an exciting year for electronic music. There have been many great new EDM releases in 2014, including dubstep, trance and trap songs.

Below you will find the top 20 best EDM songs of 2014 so far. This list is based on music blogs, popularity and the buzz that followed after each track was released.

Each year, electronic dance music (EDM) continues to evolve and advance into new and exciting territories. In 2014, EDM saw a huge explosion of the “big room” house genre with tracks incorporating the signature saw-wave lead synth (featured in songs like Avicii’s Levels, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s Wakanda and Hardwell’s Spaceman), as well as a more melodic route that featured tracks like Martin Garrix’s Animals, DVBBS’ Tsunami and R3hab & NERVO’s Ready For The Weekend.

EDM has also seen some of its biggest tracks come from pop crossover collaborations, such as Zedd featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore for Stay The Night, Alesso featuring Tove Lo for Heroes (we Could Be), Afrojack featuring Wrabel for Ten Feet Tall and Showtek featuring We Are Loud! & Sonny Wilson for Booyah.

In this blog post, we take a look at our top 20 EDM tracks of 2014. Some were released earlier in the year and still remain popular in clubs around the world while others are newer hits that are likely to continue to dominate the airwaves well into 2015.

Electronic dance music has been around for a long time and has risen rapidly in popularity over the last decade. EDM is very popular at nightclubs, parties, festivals, concerts, and events. The genre of music is known to be made up of mostly instrumental tracks with a tempo ranging from 120 beats per minute to 150 beats per minute. Typically the music is made up of repetitive beats with different pitches and sounds over top.

The style of EDM can vary greatly depending on the artist who composed it. Some songs focus mainly on bass while others focus on high pitched notes. There are also many different genres within EDM, these include House music, Electronic Rock, Techno, Dubstep, and Trance music.

Many artists have emerged into popularity recently creating hits that have been heard by millions all over the world. These hits have been played not only at events as mentioned above but also have been played by DJs on the radio and used as background soundtracks for TV shows and movies.
