Here is our selection of the best electronic albums of 2016. The majority of these records have been selected by our editor as we believe they represent some of the most interesting releases in 2015.

We have also included a few recommendations from our readers, who were able to vote for their choice in this category.

The list includes all genres, from techno and house to ambient, experimental and IDM. Our aim is to highlight some of the best releases from around the world – from established artists as well as new talents.

For those who have been following my year-end lists since I started doing them, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that electronic music is my favorite genre of music. I think it has so much potential for experimentation and expression, more than any other genre. And 2016 was an incredible year for electronic music.

I can’t say it was the best year ever, but there were so many excellent albums that came out this year that I had to make another list just to showcase all the best ones. So here are the top ten electronic albums of 2016:
