Electronic trance is a genre of music that has been around since the late 1980s. It has gained popularity in recent years due to the amount of publicity it has received through various television shows, movies and online videos.
The first thing you need to know about electronic trance is that it is not just one type of music. There are many different types of electronic trance out there and it can be difficult for someone who isn’t familiar with the genre to understand what makes one type different from another.

Electronic trance is a music genre that incorporates many of the elements and techniques of electronic music. Trance music is characterized by a tempo lying between 110 and 150 beats per minute (BPM), repeating melodic phrases and a musical form that distinctly builds tension and elements throughout a track often culminating in 1 to 2 “peaks” or “drops”. A characteristic trance track features repetitive, melodic synthesizer phrases, with occasional vocals and a bass line. How is it that a simple formula can be used to create such a wide variety of tracks, with each one conveying such a different feel to the listener? These are questions I have wondered about for quite some time now, but only recently have I discovered the truth.
The reason so many different styles of trance music exist is because of the incredible amount of variation in the genre. There are several types or sub-genres of trance music, some of which were created by the ravers themselves. The reason why ravers could create such vast differences between their tracks and those of other DJs is because they had more freedom with what they could do with the music.

Electronic trance music usually has a lot of reverb (reverberation) in it which creates an eerie feel similar to that found in classical compositions by composers such as Mozart or Schubert. In fact, many musicians consider electronic trance music to be the closest thing to classical composition that exists today. Electronic trance music also tends to use more complex rhythms than other styles of electronic
There is no lack of music genres and sub-genres. However, electronic trance is different from the others because of its unique sound identity, and it has a fervent fan base that often possesses strong tribal tendencies. Trance is different in the sense that it occupies a special place in the world of electronic dance music (EDM).
The trance genre is characterised by its emphasis on melody and harmony. It also has a very high-energy sound, which makes it distinct from other types of EDM. The standard BPM (beats per minute) range for trance music is around 128 to 142 BPM, although some producers have slowed it down to 96 or 110 BPM.

When I first started listening to electronic music, one of the things that always confused me was the different genres of techno. Each genre has it’s own sound, and each genre has its own sub-genre. What is even more confusing is a lot of times, there are genres that have very similar sounding names. For instance, trance and progressive trance both have a very similar sounds, but they are not the same genre.
