Drum and Bass can be broken down into several different subgenres:

Jungle was heavily sample based with the majority of samples being reused again and again by producers. Jungle tends to have a much slower tempo than other forms of DnB ranging from 90-140 BPM or so. Drum and Bass or DnB is an electronic music genre that originated in the early 90s from the UK. Hardcore electronic dance music producers at the time were looking for a way to make the music faster, so they sped up the breakbeat making it into what we now know as drum and bass.

DnB is characterized by fast breakbeats (usually 160-180 bpm). The common breakdown of a drum and bass song consists of a breakbeat intro with a few bars of drums, followed by a loose kick and snare pattern with a ride cymbal. Then you have the drop which has the main hook or “riff” of the song, which can consist of various instruments including synthesizers, samples, and/or vocal samples.

DnB uses many different samples from older songs to create its sound which gives off a nostalgic feeling to many listeners. In fact, before I started listening to dnb I thought of it as “music your parents listened to” because my mom used to listen to old pop songs that are sampled in some dnb tracks.

Drum and bass is my favorite genre of electronic music because it incorporates so many different sounds into one song that give off good vibes.

Over the first decade of its existence, the incorporation of elements from various musical genres led to many permutations in its overall style.

Elements borrowed from other musical genres include: breakbeat hardcore (and its derivatives oldschool jungle, ragga jungle, and darkcore), techno, dub reggae, dancehall, hip hop, house music (particularly acid house), pop, rock and jazz.

Drum and bass is mainly produced at home on computer-based music production software such as Ableton Live or Logic Pro. A few use hardware sequencers but most still use MIDI keyboards to trigger drum sounds. There are also some artists who make drum and bass using software synthesisers and samplers, usually on a laptop computer without any additional hardware controllers.

Drum and bass producers use a variety of different methods for making their tracks sound good to the human ear, including frequency-warping techniques such as sidechaining techniques

The drum & bass scene is often associated with illegal activity particularly as a result of its connections to the rave scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, many artists in recent years have spoken out against this connection and there has been a movement towards more musicality within the genre.

Electronic music is music that employs electronic musical instruments and electronic music technology in its production. In general a distinction can be made between sound produced using electromechanical means and that produced using electronic technology. Examples of electromechanical sound producing devices include the telharmonium, Hammond organ, and the electric guitar. Purely electronic sound production can be achieved using devices such as the theremin, sound synthesizer, and computer.

The first electronic devices for performing music were developed at the end of the 19th century, and shortly afterward Italian futurists explored sounds that had not been considered musical. During the 1920s and 1930s, electronic instruments were introduced and the first compositions for electronic instruments were made. By the 1940s, magnetic audio tape allowed musicians to tape sounds and then modify them by changing the tape speed or direction, leading to the development of electroacoustic tape music in the 1940s, in Egypt and France. Musique concrète, created in Paris in 1948, was based on editing together recorded fragments of natural and industrial sounds.

In the 1960s live electronics were pioneered in America and Europe, Japanese electronic musical instruments began influencing the music industry, Jamaican dub music emerged as a form of popular electronic music.[1] In the early
