It can be hard to fathom just how popular dance music has become, with festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival and Tomorrowland selling out in minutes and attracting hundreds of thousands of attendees.

But aside from being a multi-billion dollar industry, EDM has also had a huge influence on the way we listen to music today. One of the most noticeable effects is that people are now listening to electronic music outside of the club more than ever before. With its thumping basslines and hypnotic melodies, dance music is perfect for getting you through a tough workout session at the gym.

In this article I’ll take you through some of the best ways that electronic dance music can help you get in shape and keep you motivated, as well as taking a look at some of the best tracks from recent years that are perfect for helping you exercise.

I have no clue about electronic dance music (EDM). I don’t listen to it. I don’t go to shows. I don’t know the names of any DJs. I’m more of a rock and roll guy. But one genre of music I do enjoy while working out is house.

I used to think that listening to music while working out was just an American thing, but I found out recently that this is not true. In fact, according to the New York Times, there are even clubs in Europe that cater specifically to people who love to work out by dancing. For instance, in Berlin there is a club called Ahoi Popoi that is exclusively for those who like to sweat like crazy while listening to loud techno music and flashing lights.
