Welcome to the weekly Electronic Music Releases list. This is a blog about new music that has been released.
This week, we’re featuring the sounds of Los Angeles and New Mexico, two places with a long history of electronic music production. Los Angeles is home to many well-known producers like Autechre and Aphex Twin, while New Mexico is home to artists such as Aphex Twin and Daft Punk.

Here’s a look at recent new electronic music releases that are worth checking out.
Lane 8, “I Got What You Need (Every Night).”
The San Francisco-based producer Lane 8 has been releasing music on the Anjunadeep label since 2013. His latest is a single called “I Got What You Need (Every Night),” which features the vocalist Poliça. It’s a smooth and soulful deep house track with bright, airy synths and a steady four-on-the-floor beat. It comes with a remix from Maor Levi.
Jonas Rathman, “Wolfsbane.”
The Swedish producer Jonas Rathman has been putting out music for about five years now, but he recently signed to the British label Anjunadeep, which will release his debut album in early 2018. The first single from that album is called “Wolfsbane,” and it’s a pulsating techno track that starts out slow and gradually builds in intensity. Mr. Rathman is playing in New York this weekend at Output in Brooklyn on Saturday night; he will be opening for the British techno producer Jamie Jones.

The latest electronic music releases this week on beatport, including the best new electronic music. Electronic music is music that employs electronic musical instruments and electronic music technology in its production, an electronic musician being a musician who composes and/or performs such music. In general a distinction can be made between sound produced using electromechanical means and that produced using electronic technology. Examples of electromechanical sound producing devices include the telharmonium, Hammond organ, and the electric guitar. Purely electronic sound production can be achieved using devices such as the theremin, sound synthesizer, and computer.
The first electronic devices for performing music were developed at the end of the 19th century, and shortly afterward Italian futurists explored sounds that had not been considered musical. During the 1920s and 1930s, electronic instruments were introduced and the first compositions for electronic instruments were made. By the 1940s, magnetic audio tape allowed musicians to tape sounds and then modify them by changing the tape speed or direction, leading to the development of electroacoustic tape music in the 1940s, in Egypt and France. Now we’re back with another great week of new music, and there’s also a ton of huge upcoming releases on the way. But today we’re going to focus on what’s out this week, so let’s jump right in.
Big Boi of Outkast has a new solo album dropping on Friday called Boomiverse. The album features collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Killer Mike, Adam Levine, Eric Bellinger and more. This is the third solo effort from Big Boi, who told Zane Lowe earlier this year during an interview on Beats 1 that he doesn’t consider it a solo album as much as he does an Outkast album.
“I don’t look at it as a solo album,” said Big Boi. “I look at it as an Outkast album because I got three songs with Andre 3000 and one song with the whole Dungeon Family.”
The last time the two groups worked together was in 2007 when they released Idlewild, the soundtrack to their movie by the same name.
