Top 10 Electronic Music Pioneers of The 20th Century

1. Pierre Henry (b. 1927)

Pierre Henry is the first on our list, and he was one of the first to experiment with electronic music. He was born in Paris and began his career in 1949. His first piece, Symphonie pour un Homme Seul (Symphony for a Man Alone), was created by him in collaboration with Pierre Schaeffer in 1950. In 1958, Henry worked with choreographer Maurice Bejart for Le Ballet des Mousquetaires, which made use of musique concrète techniques and tape loops.

He worked together with Michel Colombier from 1960 to 1970. They created electronic music that had been used in films like William Klein’s Mr Freedom and Barbet Schroeder’s More. In 1970, he released Messe Pour le Temps Présent, which became one of his most popular works. He has composed several other film scores as well as music for theaters and ballets throughout his career.

Some of the greatest musical pioneers throughout history were not afraid to experiment with new technology and sounds. In the early 20th century, the possibilities of what could be created with electricity were just beginning to be explored. This is a list of the top ten pioneers, innovators and influencers of 20th Century Electronic Music.

Electronic music is a genre that has undergone many changes over the years. The term was first used to describe experimental music created with the help of electronic instruments, including the synthesizer and computer. Electronic sounds made with analog or digital synthesizers were often combined with recorded found sounds and samples from other musical genres to create something new. As technology has evolved over the years, electronic music has gone through many changes and variations. According to AllMusic, electronic music is defined as “any music involving electronic instruments or technology as a fundamental part (as opposed to incidental) part of the music.”

In honor of today’s greatest DJs, we have compiled a list of the top 10 most influential artists in electronic music. These pioneers will forever be remembered not only for their groundbreaking sounds, but also for their impressive technical skills. While there have been countless others who have contributed greatly to this genre of music, these are some of the most important figures in the history of electronic music.

It’s the dawn of a new age: the age of electronic music.

Synths, drum machines, samplers and software instruments have taken over the world. Vast libraries of electronic sounds are available at our fingertips, endless sonic combos to be crafted and manipulated into music. And the most talented artists are no longer limited to traditional group sizes – it’s just as easy for one person to craft a ground-breaking album as for a band of dozens.

Technology has been a key component of musical innovation for centuries: from Bach’s pipe organ to Beethoven’s fortepiano to Coltrane’s saxophone. But electronic instruments take this to the next level – they don’t just extend our capabilities: they change the rules entirely.

Electronic music is still relatively new, but its pioneers have already had an enormous impact on popular culture…and in many ways, it has only just begun.

The 20th century was the era of avant garde music. The post-war years gave birth to a multitude of composers, all searching for new ways of expression and new forms. Many great artists have been lost in obscurity, yet some have changed the face of music forever.

1. Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971) – A Russian composer, pianist and conductor. He is widely considered to be one of the most important and influential composers of the 20th century. His work had a profound influence on the development of modern dance, classical music and opera.

2. John Cage (1912-1992) – An American composer, writer and visual artist who was arguably the most influential composer of electronic music in America during his lifetime. Cage was also a prominent educator; he taught at the University of California at Berkeley, Yale University and Harvard University.

3. Morton Feldman (1926-1987) – An American composer who worked primarily with sounds produced by natural sources (such as wind), rather than by musical instruments or electronics. He was an important figure in contemporary music and is considered to be one of the most important figures in American music history
