It is very difficult to describe what electronic music is because it can be so many things. Each genre has its own characteristics and qualities which makes them distinct from the others.

I am a fan of electronic music, and I am looking for a place where I can discuss this with people who share my interest. I want to find out what kind of music is being played in the different genres, and also discuss the differences between them. In this blog post, I will be giving you a brief introduction to some of the main genres that are played in the world today. These are just some examples of genres that are playing on radio stations today, but there are many more out there! If you would like to learn more about these genres, then please read on!

The first genre that comes to my mind when someone mentions electronic music is trance. Trance is an electronic genre that was first created in the 1980s by German DJ Sven Väth. It is characterized by repetitive beats and intense bass lines. The songs are often very fast-paced and can sometimes last up to ten minutes long! So, what kind of electronic music do you listen to, if any?

While ‘electronic’ is our main genre tag, the sub-genres are what really give you the best idea of the types of music on our site. Electronic has grown from a small niche market in the late ’80s to now being a globally recognized and respected form of mainstream media. The diversity within this genre is unlike anything else out there.

There are a lot of different styles of electronic music, and it can be confusing when you’re trying to figure out what type of electronic music you like. This blog intends to give a basic explanation of electronic genres, what they sound like, and artists from those genres.

Electronic genres can be broken into two categories: Electronic Dance Music (EDM), and non-EDM. EDM is the more popular genre that comes to mind for most people when they think about electronic music. Non-EDM is less popular, but still very important in the world of electronic music.

Electronic Dance Music (EDM):

Progressive House – progressive house is probably the most well known type of EDM. It has a steady beat with lots of buildups and drops. Progressive house artists include: Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto (progressive remixes), Deadmau5 (progressive remixes).

Dubstep – dubstep is another very popular electronic genre. It has a heavier sound than progressive house with gritty bass lines and wobbly synths/sounds. Dubstep artists include: Skrillex, Datsik, Excision.

The term EDM (Electronic Dance Music) is used to describe dance music made with electronic instruments, and is not a term used in the production world; producers will often speak of Electronic Music or Electronic Dance Music.

Electronic music has been instrumental in the development of many sub-genres within the genre itself. Examples include House, Drum and Bass, Trip Hop , Trance and Techno. The main genres are broken down into their own sub-genres, & each of those sub-genres have their own sub-genres.

Some sub genres are: Dubstep, Electro House, Minimal Techno, Breakbeat and UK Garage.

Electronic music is a term used to describe a wide scope of contemporary electronic music genres. The electronic music genre can be attributed to the use of electronic instruments and equipment. These include: audio oscillators, synthesisers, sequencers, keyboards, drum machines, samplers and effect units. Electronic music also includes the use of live electronics which include the use of computer systems, laptops and tablets.

The definition of electronic music is not only limited to the use of instruments and equipment but also the characteristics and elements that are used within the creation of this type of music including sound and production techniques. For example: sampling, looping, modification, distortion, effects and delay.

The emergence of electronic dance music (EDM) has seen an evolution in musical genres that have developed from an experimental form based on traditional instruments to a more popular style with synthesised sounds.

Electronic music began in the early 1900s with the invention of sound-producing devices such as theremin, noise generators and test oscillators. The first electronic musical instrument was invented in 1876 by Elisha Gray who was experimenting with telecommunications equipment.
