The Concept Behind Kenrex
Kenrex is a unique blend of true crime, western, and musical elements. The show’s creators, writer and director Rachel Perks and composer and lyricist David West Read, aimed to craft a narrative that combines the gritty realism of true crime stories with the stylized, larger-than-life quality of a western musical.
The album is a collection of 10 tracks that explore the intersection of electronic music and traditional Japanese instruments.
The Birth of KENREX Music
KENREX Music is the brainchild of Elliott, a musician who has been fascinated by the intersection of electronic music and traditional Japanese instruments for years. Growing up in the United States, Elliott was exposed to a wide range of musical styles, but it was the traditional Japanese instruments that truly captured his imagination. He spent countless hours studying the sounds and techniques of instruments like the shamisen and the koto, and he began to experiment with incorporating these sounds into his own music.
