The type of music that I listen to is usually rap and R&B, but I am open to listening to almost any type of genre. I feel as though I am an open-minded individual because I am willing to try new things and meet new people. When it comes to music, this is especially true because there are so many different types of genres out there, it’s impossible not to enjoy at least one of them. If someone were to ask me what my favorite song was, it would be hard for me to choose one because there are so many songs that I like. However, if someone were to ask me what my favorite genre was, I would say R&B/Soul. There’s just something about the way that R&B/Soul makes me feel that sets it apart from every other genre out there. When it comes to finding out what kind of music you like, there are many different variables you can use to measure your musical taste. Some people prefer a certain genre, for example rap. Others may prefer the more complex sounds of Jazz, or even the powerful beats of rock and roll.
In my case I find that I have a very mixed taste in music. My favorite kind of music is electronic; however I do appreciate some aspects of other genres. Electronic music has many different types and styles, but my favorite type is trance. Trance music has always been a part of my life, ever since I was little. The way that the beat controls me is something that I have never experienced before and will most likely never experience again; the way it makes me feel is second to none.
However, as much as I love electronic music, this doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy other types of music such as rock or pop. One song in particular that I enjoy listening to is Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf. The song starts off with a slow yet powerful guitar riff accompanied with some drums and then jumps into a high octane chorus that has an amazing drum solo at the end of it; giving me goosebumps every time I hear it.
My taste in music is a little bit like looking into my soul. The songs I listen to are moody and ethereal. They focus on the darker side of life and love, but also use a lot of metaphors to describe these things. The lyrics are typically dark and thought provoking, but also create an image in your head as you listen. The words paint a picture, while the music creates an atmosphere to go with it.
I feel that my personality is very much like that too. I have a pessimistic view of life and love, but I can also look at it from someone else’s perspective.
The music I listen to helps me get out of my own head for a second, creating something more beautiful in its place.
