The 1975 is an English pop rock band from Manchester, England, who started off their career by releasing their first self-titled album “The 1975” on September 2nd 2013, which featured the hit single Chocolate, and the single Sex, which was such a hit that it was banned from the radio for being too explicit!

They then released their second album I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it on February 26th 2016, which included many hit singles such as The Sound, Somebody Else, Love Me, and UGH!, gaining massive popularity in the process. They have been known to experiment with a variety of genres besides just rock/pop including EDM and trap music in some of their songs. In 2017 they released two new singles I Like It When You Sleep… and Somebody Else. They also recently announced a tour to promote their new album set to be released in 2018.

Electronic rock music has made a comeback with new artists taking the scene by storm. Here are five of the bands to look out for in 2018:

1. The Hunna

The Hunna is a British indie rock band based in Hertfordshire, England. In 2016 they released their first full-length album titled 100. They were originally signed to High Time Records and were picked up by 300 Entertainment in 2017. Their most popular song on Spotify is Bonfire and it has over 20 million plays.

2. Joywave

Joywave is an American indie rock band from Rochester, New York that was formed in 2010. They are currently signed to Hollywood Records and Cultco Music and have been touring with Passion Pit and Grouplove. Their latest release came out in November 2016 titled Content. The name Joywave comes from a lyric in the song “Let’s Make Out” by Dan Deacon where he says “joy wave”.

3. Nothing But Thieves

Nothing But Thieves is an English alternative rock band from Southend-on-Sea, Essex that was formed in 2012. The current members are Conor Mason (vocals), Joe Langridge-Brown (guitar), Dom Craik (guitar), James Price (bass guitar)

Muse is an English alternative rock band from Teignmouth, Devon. The band consists of Matt Bellamy (lead vocals, guitar), Dominic Howard (drums) and Chris Wolstenholme (bass).

1. Arc Iris

The brainchild of Jocie Adams, Arc Iris is a musical powerhouse. The band’s debut album, Arc Iris, was released in 2014, and quickly became a favorite in the experimental and indie rock scenes. Since then they have toured extensively throughout North America and Europe.

Their 2016 album, Moon Saloon showed the band’s range of instruments and creativity as the group expanded from an acoustic trio to a full band with horns and synths. Combining elements of folk, classical, indie rock and electronic music, their sound defies categorization.

2. Superorganism

Formed in London in 2017, Superorganism is a collective of eight musicians from Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Their debut single “Something for Your M.I.N.D.” came out in February 2017 and immediately gained traction online when it became popular on Reddit. The video for the song has been viewed over three million times on YouTube (and counting).

Superorganism has released four singles so far – “Something for Your M.I.N.D.,” “Nobody Cares,” “It’s All Good” and “Reflections on the Screen”.

Hailing from the east coast, Lover’s Touch opened up the show with a bang. While most of the crowd were still finding their seats and settling in, they took to the stage in full force and really set the mood for what was to come. Computer games are often accused of making kids violent. But maybe it is the other way around? Maybe kids who like computer games are violent to begin with? And maybe the ones who don’t like them have been scared off by being beaten up by the ones who do?

I’ve never liked computer games, and at some point I noticed a correlation: most of my friends who liked them also had violent streaks. Not all, but enough for me to notice.

That’s not evidence. It’s just an anecdote. But it made me wonder whether giving people a socially acceptable way to get out their aggressions might not keep them from acting on them in less socially acceptable ways.
