This article will list 20 of the most emotional songs in EDM. EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music and it is one of the most popular genres of music in the world today. Most people associate EDM with clubs and partying because it is loud, upbeat music that stimulates your mind into thinking you are having fun dancing with your friends.
There is another side to EDM though, a side that many people don’t know about, a side that deals with emotions, memories and reflecting on life. The great thing about EDM is that its so diverse there is something for everyone whether you’re listening for pure entertainment or for reflection purposes. In this article I’ll focus on 20 songs specifically made for reflection purposes, songs guaranteed to make you cry if you have something weighing heavy on your heart.
I’ve been working on a new way to map out the songs that have the most emotional impact. I call it the “Emotional Impact” (EI) factor.
The main idea is that the EI factor for a song is determined by its degree of emotional intensity and its context within the song.
For example, a song that uses a lot of loud drums and bass has a much higher degree of emotional intensity than one that uses quiet piano, so it will have a higher EI factor. But if the loud drums are used in an upbeat dance track, then they’re not necessarily going to make you feel sad or angry, so they’re not going to be as emotionally intense as if they were used in a slow ballad or intense rock song.
So I’ve come up with a formula based on these factors to determine how emotionally intense each song is:
A + B + C = EI
A = Degree of Emotional Intensity
B = Degree of Emotional Context
C = Degree of Emotional Intensity + Degree of Emotional Context + Length of Song in Minutes
