The year of 2017 has been a great one for electronic music lovers, with many well-known artists releasing new work and a few up-and-coming artists gaining some well-deserved popularity. 2018 is looking to be just as good, if not better, than last year.

2018 is already shaping up to be a big year for electronic music releases. As we move further into the new year, expect to see more and more albums from some of your favorite artists. Today we’re going to take a look at our most anticipated electronic music albums that are coming out in 2018.

10. Claude VonStroke – Urban Animal

Urban Animal is the fifth studio album by Claude VonStroke, scheduled to be released on October 14, 2013. It features collaborations with VonStroke’s own mother and father-in-law. The track “Can’t Wait” features vocals from Katy Perry. The album was preceded by a single, “The Clapping Track”, which was released as a digital download and as a 12″ vinyl record on July 16, 2007, although it did not chart.

VonStroke has said that he “made all of these beats while traveling on tour or visiting family this summer.” The album was recorded entirely in his home studio in Oakland in August 2010.

2018 is almost here, and with it comes a whole slew of new and exciting electronic music. To help narrow down your choices, we’ve assembled a list of the top 10 most anticipated albums of 2018. 1. Autechre’s NTS Sessions

In an interview with FACT Magazine, Sean Booth and Rob Brown announced that they will be releasing eight albums worth of music over the course of 2018. The first four installments have already been released to NTS Radio in London, and the next four are expected to be released in May. It’s important to note that these are not albums in the traditional sense, but rather playlists of unreleased music totaling approximately three hours per session. However, Booth and Brown also stated that they plan to release a “proper album” later in the year. In their words, “We don’t want to spend too long working on one thing and we’re just going to keep doing that throughout the year and hopefully other things as well.”

Autechre is not only my favorite electronic music duo but one of my favorite musical acts period. I have been a fan since their early days at Warp Records where they made such influential classics as Amber and Tri Repetae++. They have had a prolific career spanning nearly three decades, with their latest release being the 1 hour 40 minute long LP5 from 2008. 1. CHVRCHES – Love Is Dead

CHVRCHES is a Scottish synth-pop band that was formed in 2011. The group consists of Lauren Mayberry (lead vocals, synthesizers, samplers), Iain Cook (synthesizers, guitar, bass, vocals), and Martin Doherty (synthesizers, samplers, vocals). Their first studio album, The Bones of What You Believe (2013), was released to positive reviews from critics and received a nomination for the 2013 Scottish Album of the Year Award. Their second album, Every Open Eye (2015), also received critical acclaim and was nominated for the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album.

Their third album is scheduled to be released on May 25th. CHVRCHES has so far released three singles from the record; “Get Out”, “My Enemy” and “Never Say Die”. All three songs have been given positive reviews by critics.

10. MOUNT KIMBIE (UK) – Love What Survives

Mount Kimbie has been at the forefront of bringing into electronic music, the art of free improv. Their latest album Love What Survives, continues to explore the boundless possibilities in experimentation and improvisation. The duo is on tour promoting their last album and will play at a variety of locations across Europe.

9. RON TRENT (US) – Prescription: Words & Music Volume 1

The Chicago-based DJ, producer and remixer Ron Trent will release his first full-length album Prescription: Words & Music Volume 1 on April 13 via his own label Prescription Music. The album features soulful singing by various artists over Trent’s signature deep house production. The bulk of the record is vocal tracks with some instrumental selections as well.

As we all know, 2017 was a huge year for music. We were blessed with greats such as Kendrick’s DAMN., Tyler’s Flower Boy, Frank Ocean’s Blond and Endless, and Brockhampton’s Saturation II and III. The year is now coming to an end, and it’s time to look at what the 2018 has in store for us.
