The big night is finally here! On May 6, the Neeld Arts and Community Centre will be transformed into a vibrant music venue, hosting an unforgettable night of performances by ten talented bands from the Chippenham campus. The event promises to be an exciting showcase of the year’s hard work, featuring a diverse range of performances, including rock, indie, drum and bass, and DJ sets. The students have been encouraged to follow their passions, resulting in a unique and eclectic mix of sounds that are sure to captivate the audience.
The performances, which start at 6:30 pm, will be a mix of UAL Level 2, Level 3 year one and two, performance, and production students. Many of these students will be taking to the stage for the first time, making this a truly special and nerve-wracking experience for them.
Music lecturer Andy Parker said that the event is the culmination of a year’s work in song-writing, sound design, composition, and production. “It’s an opportunity for them to showcase their final projects or work they’ve been producing,” he explained. “It’s going to be a huge confidence boost for them going up on a big stage, there are a few nerves already but it will be exciting.”
The students have been guided through the process of developing their music, and the results are truly impressive. Mr Parker added, “We’ve guided them through that process of developing whatever they want to do. It’s their own choice of style and whether they want to produce an EP, an album, or a music magazine.”
The performances will feature a range of original compositions, as well as rock and indie covers. According to Mr Parker, “It’s going to be a really interesting mix. I think people who come along are going to have an entertaining evening.”
The event has been made possible by the hard work and dedication of the students, who have been encouraged to get involved with the technical aspects of the performance, such as sound and staging. Year two student Adam Daniel will be leading the technical side as part of his final year project.
The Neeld Arts and Community Centre has a rich history of hosting famous acts, including The Who, The Kinks, and Roxy Music. The centre’s experienced staff will ensure that the event runs smoothly, providing a fantastic experience for both the performers and the audience.
Tickets are priced at ยฃ2.50, making this an affordable and enjoyable evening out for music lovers. The event promises to be a truly unforgettable experience, and we can’t wait to see what the students have in store for us.
As Mr Parker said, “It’s going to be a huge confidence boost for them going up on a big stage. We’re excited to see the students shine and share their music with the world.”
The event will be a great opportunity for the students to gain valuable experience, network with industry professionals, and get a taste of what it’s like to perform on a professional stage. It’s a truly special night that will be remembered for a long time.
So, mark your calendars for May 6 and get ready to experience the best of Chippenham’s music scene. It’s going to be a night to remember!
