The last two decades have seen a proliferation of new bands and artists exploring different styles, textures and influences to create some truly innovative sounds. We’re going to take a look at nine emerging bands that you need to hear now.

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Cynical People are a hard-rocking band with an alternative edge. Their sound is influenced by post-punk and grunge legends such as Nirvana and Radiohead, but with a modern twist that gives their music an original edge. Although the band only formed in 2016, they have already made a name for themselves on the live circuit, playing high profile gigs at venues such as The Opera House in Toronto. The group was formed by Liam Howlett in 1990 and over the years has included MCs Keef Flint and Maxim Reality, dancer Leeroy Thornhill and vocalist Sharky. The Prodigy’s brand of music uses various styles ranging from rave, hardcore techno, industrial, jungle and breakbeat and big beat.
Queens of the Stone Age: Queens of the Stone Age is an American electronic rock band from Palm Desert, California, United States, formed in 1997. Their heavy sound has been compared to many other bands such as Nirvana, Soundgardenand Alice in Chains as they were popular at the time of the band’s conception.
Tame Impala
This Australian band has been making waves since the release of their 2010 debut EP. Their latest album Lonerism is a concept record about being on the outside looking in. The band is currently touring Australia, Asia, and Europe.

This Swedish electronic duo has been around for over a decade, but 2013 could be their year to break out. The band has released four studio albums and two live albums over their career, earning them critical acclaim from Rolling Stone and Spin.
Niki & The Dove
This Swedish electropop duo first caught the attention of The Guardian in 2011 with their debut album Instinct. In 2012, they released remixes of “DJ Ease My Mind” by N*E*R*D and “Killing For Love” by Jose Gonzalez. They’re currently at work on their follow-up to Instinct to be released this summer.
