Rezz is a lo-fi electronic indie music artist who has been around for about ten years. Rezz does not normally make public appearances, so this is a rare opportunity to meet him in person.

The following is a transcript of an interview with Rezz, electronic music artist, conducted by Arman. The transcript has been lightly edited for clarity.

Arman: I’d like to discuss your first single, “I.” How did you go about making that track?

Rezz: It was just something that I made in my bedroom, honestly. When I started producing, it was just a hobby. I wasn’t really expecting that many people to hear what I was making. So the song “I” was one of the first ones that I made; it’s actually one of the first songs that I posted on SoundCloud.

Arman: Most of your songs have these weird intros…

Rezz is the stage name of Isabelle Rezazadeh (born May 27, 1995), a DJ and music producer from Niagara Falls, Canada.[1][2] She was listed as one of Vibe Magazine’s “Top 5 Artists to Watch in 2017” and nominated for Breakthrough DJ of the Year at the 2017 Electronic Music Awards.[3][4] Her debut studio album, Mass Manipulation, was released on August 4, 2017 to critical acclaim.

Rezazadeh grew up in Niagara Falls and attended a Catholic elementary school. Her parents are from Iran and her father worked in construction.[5] She began producing music at age 16 under the name Rezz; she chose that name because it is shorter than her last name.[6] Rezazadeh first became interested in electronic music after watching videos of Skrillex concerts on YouTube.[7][8] Between 2012 and 2014, she produced hip hop instrumentals under the alias “Melanie Martinez”.[9] Her producer friend deadmau5 discovered her music on SoundCloud in 2014. He invited her to join his mau5trap label and open for him on his 2015 North American tour.[10][11] In 2016, Rezazadeh released an extended play titled Insurrection

Rezz is a multi-platform electronic music artist, and has been since she was a child. As a child, she learned how to make electronic music by watching people on YouTube. Her mother taught her how to use piano software on the computer, and Rezz took it from there. She built her own studio at her house in Cleveland, Ohio.

In high school, Rezz made a lot of friends who liked electronic music. One of them was John Bonham. Bonham was a fan of the band Kool & the Gang, but he also enjoyed listening to other types of music like hip hop and reggae. When Bonham heard Rezz’s tracks online he thought they were great, so he sent them over to his friend John Paul Jones who then turned him onto Led Zeppelin.

Rezz’s first album was released in 2010 and it had two singles on it called “Rezzed Up” and “High Life”. In 2017 she released another album called “Mass Manipulation” which had three singles: “Relax”, “Life & Death” and “Green Gravity”.

Rezz has performed at several festivals including Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas (EDCLV), Ultra Music Festival Miami (UMF) and Coachella Valley Music &

Rezz is an artist from Niagara Falls, Ontario. Her music is described as having a dark, bass-heavy style with influences of psychedelic music, and has been featured on various EDM blogs such as Run The Trap and YourEDM. She has released three EPs; Insurrection (2015), The Silence Is Deafening (2016) and Something Wrong Here (2017).

When asked about her musical inspirations, Rezz says she finds “inspirations in many different things” but mainly focuses on her favorite producers such as Skrillex, deadmau5 and Gesaffelstein.

REZZ (real name Isabelle Rezazadeh) is a Canadian electronic music artist from Niagara Falls, Ontario. Active since 2015, she has performed at various music festivals including Ultra Music Festival, Okeechobee Festival, Shambhala Music Festival and Coachella.

Rezz’ signature style of dark and bass-heavy techno has garnered her the nickname “The Space Mom”. She has released two EPs on OWSLA’s sister label Nest HQ: The Silence Is Deafening in 2015 and Insurrection in 2016. After releasing multiple singles through Deadmau5’s Mau5trap Recordings, her debut studio album Mass Manipulation was released on August 4, 2017. Her second studio album Certain Kind of Magic was released on August 3, 2018.

Renowned electronic music producer Rezz, who has a new album out, has been interviewed by The Verge about her musical career and how she creates new songs.

“The first thing I think about when I’m writing a track is the melody — that’s where my head goes,” Rezz said. “I’m not going to sit there and think, ‘Oh, I don’t know what to do.’ No, I’m going to sit there and say, ‘Okay, this melody is super groovy.’ And then I’ll build a track around it.”

Rezz said her music was inspired by her love of video games and computer-generated imagery (CGI). She said she looked up to artists like Aphex Twin and Squarepusher because they were able to blend CGI with real-life images. Rezz also said she tried to create an album that felt like a movie.

“I wanted my album covers to have a cinematic feel,” Rezz said. “The idea is that it’s taking you on a journey through your mind.”

Rezz added that she wanted the album covers to mirror the feeling of watching a film while listening to the music.
