Electronic Folk. What is it? How do I make it? Why would I want to?

Electronic Folk is a style of music that combines elements of folk song and electronic music. It is a genre without a name, and you’d be surprised at how big it is. From Mumford and Sons to Bon Iver, this genre has permeated the 21st century music scene. The problem: no one knows what to call it.

In the following guide, we’ll answer all the questions above, and more. We’ll discuss what Electronic Folk is, where it came from, why it’s become so popular in the last few years, and then how you can make it!

So what is Electronic Folk?

Simply put: Electronic Folk is a style of music that blends elements of folk songwriting with contemporary electronic production techniques. This music usually features acoustic instruments as well as synths and often incorporates drum machines or programmed beats.

The most interesting thing about this genre is that there isn’t really a clear definition for it yet; it’s constantly evolving as producers find new ways to combine elements from each style.

Electronic Folk is a new and evolving genre of music. It takes the soul of traditional folk music, with it’s strong emotion and interesting chord progressions, and combines it with the futuristic sounds and power of electronic music.

There are many ways to create this genre but I think that the most important thing is to start with some simple chords that you like, add some lyrics and then experiment with adding different synths on top.

You can use whatever synths you want but I usually start out with a synth that has a simple square or sawtooth wave sound. You can even use an actual guitar if you want a more organic, earthy sound. Just make sure it’s plugged into an amp so that you are able to manipulate it’s sound through effects pedals.

Once you have your basic sound together try layering other synths or instruments over top to fill in the gaps. A good way to do this is by getting an arpeggiator synth or plugin and playing the notes in time with the chord progression of your song. You can also try sweeping through the notes of the chord progression in time with your song or doubling up on certain notes for emphasis.

If you find yourself getting stuck try experimenting with

Electronic Folk is a brand new genre that can be used to describe many electronic and folk oriented music. It takes the best parts of both genres and blends them together to create a beautiful and often mesmerizing soundscape.

Electronic music has been the dominant genre of the 21st century, but how exactly did it get its start? To understand how it got to where it is today we need to look back on the history of folk music. Folk songs originate from traditional songs that are passed down through the generations by word of mouth or singing together at events (such as festivals). Folk songs have a very raw and natural sound and feel to them, which lends itself well to electronic music. The combination creates a modern twist on a classic genre of music.

Electronic folk songs have elements of folk melodies, but with an electronic backbone. This can be done in several different ways. One way would be to take an existing folk song and use electronics as part of its instrumentation (this can also be done with other genres as well). Another way would be using software programs that simulate certain instruments (such as acoustic guitar) using synthesisers rather than actual instruments.

There are many benefits to creating your own electronic folk songs, such as being able to work in any style

Electronic Folk is the latest craze to hit the music scene. Like most fads, it comes on strong and is gone in a matter of months. But, like all fads, the best parts will be remembered.

The roots of Electronic Folk are in folk music. But this time there is an electronic element. The basic idea behind it is to take traditional folk songs and add a beat that only computers can provide. Sometimes actual vocals are replaced as well, but usually not.

There are two ways to go about creating electronic folk music. The first is to buy a computer program (such as Fruity Loops) that allows you to compose your own song, using samples from other songs or recordings you have made yourself. The second option is to find an existing song and a beat online, download them and try to fit them together on your computer. It’s not an easy task and often takes many hours of painstaking work, but it can be done.

Once you have created your song, you need to get it heard by others. It may be tempting to start with family members, but this can backfire when they don’t like it and tell you so (perhaps even in front of others). Instead, start by posting the song on My

If you want to make electronic folk music, you need to start with the basics. First, you will need a computer. You should probably have one already. If not, stop reading this and go get one.

Second, you will need some kind of DAW (digital audio workstation). This is what allows you to make music with your computer as opposed to just using it as a glorified typewriter. There are many options available to you here. I use Ableton Live 9, but Logic Pro X and FL Studio are also very popular programs that people like using.

Third, pick up some instruments and start learning them! Don’t try to write songs yet; just learn the basics of these instruments and play around with them for a few weeks. I recommend acoustic guitar, piano, synthesizers, and looking for fun vintage keyboards on Craigslist or Ebay. For my first song I used an old Casio keyboard which was given to me by my aunt as a teenager because she thought I might enjoy playing with it.

Fourth, write your first song! It’s ok if it sucks; no one has to hear it but you! Just make a song that makes you feel good and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks.

Fifth, keep
