Festivals are so much fun! When you get a chance to perform at a festival, it’s important to capitalize on this opportunity. Use your time wisely and make the most out of your performance by following our tips below:
1. Get there early and have patience
We have been asked to play at festivals where we were scheduled to perform at 6PM but they didn’t let us into the venue until 4PM. There is usually an “artists only” area with food and water, but once you’re inside the venue you may not be able to leave. If you get there early, you will have time to set up your equipment and do a quick sound check before showtime.
2. Be prepared
Don’t assume that the festival organizers will provide everything you need to perform as an electronic music band. Bring your own cables, power strips, batteries, flash drives, laptop charger, etc. This way if something goes wrong during your setup or performance, you can fix it quickly without having to rely on anyone else.
3. Perform for the audience
While it’s nice to gather a crowd in front of the stage during your performance, don’t forget about those who are just walking by. If someone stops to listen for a few seconds but doesn
The electronic music genre is booming. The number of fans, festivals and artists grows every year. Since the music is created electronically, most people assume that it is easy to create. But in reality, electronic music bands and artists work just as hard as any other musician.
In fact, performing at a music festival can be much harder for an electronic music band than for most other musicians. Most festivals have an eclectic mix of bands that are used to playing acoustic instruments. Electronic musicians often use laptops and other computer gear during their performance, so they need to bring more equipment than just a guitar and a few microphones.
The following tips will help you prepare for performing at a music festival:
As a performing artist, playing at music festivals can be one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences. However, it can also be nerve-wracking and overwhelming. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your festival experience.
1. Don’t try and re-invent the wheel, but DO set yourself apart from the other acts
2. Have your sound-check done hours before your set
3. Prep your performance visuals in advance
4. Hang out with fans after your set
5. Have fun!
So you’ve been invited to play at a music festival. Congratulations! Performing at a festival is one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences for an artist, whether you’re playing a 15-minute set in the middle of the day or headlining on the main stage. Here are 5 tips to help you make the most of your festival booking:
1.) Bring as many fans as possible to your set and make sure they have a great time. If you’re lucky enough to perform at a major festival like Coachella or Lollapalooza, there will be hundreds of thousands of people attending who might never have heard your music before. The first and most important thing you can do is make sure that everyone who does attend your set has the best time possible and wants to see you again.
2.) Don’t try anything fancy. This is not the time for any kind of experimental performance art or long DJ sets with lots of mixing and turntable tricks. A festival is about getting up on stage with all your energy focused in one place – your sound. It’s about delivering great songs in a tight set that leaves people wanting more.
3.) Make sure you sound amazing, even from 1,000 feet away! Your sound needs to carry over
1. Pack your equipment the day before.
It’s a good idea to pack the night before your performance, so you don’t forget any necessary items. Make a checklist that includes all of your equipment and make sure you have everything packed and organized in one spot before you go to bed. If you’re playing with vinyl or CDs as opposed to USBs, it’s extra important to make sure you have all of your music with you!
2. Arrive early.
When performing at a festival, it’s more important than ever to arrive early. The last thing you want is to be running late and flustered because you can’t find parking or have trouble getting into the venue. The best time to arrive at a festival is at least two hours before your performance time, if not earlier. This will allow plenty of time for setting up and soundcheck if there is one scheduled, as well as time to warm up and get centered before it’s time to perform.
3. Know your set inside and out beforehand.
You never know what might happen during your performance: there could be technical difficulties with the sound system or power could go out unexpectedly, so
1. Know your gear.
Whether you have 1 piece of equipment or 10, make sure you are completely familiar with your setup so there’s no surprises at the festival. If you’re using multiple pieces of equipment, test them all together to see if they interfere with each other and understand how to properly operate them all. Become friends with your gear!
2. Practice, practice, practice.
Make sure you’re prepared to play a great set on the big stage in front of thousands of people by practicing your performance constantly until there’s nothing left to question.
3. Stay hydrated!!!
I know this sounds like common sense but it’s easy to forget when you’re nervous and there’s so much going on around you. Staying hydrated will keep you focused and energized throughout the day so you can deliver an amazing performance.
4. Pace yourself and enjoy the music!
It can be tempting to get sucked into the party scene but remember that pacing yourself is imperative for a great show and for staying healthy after the festival (not to mention staying out of trouble). Take time during the festival to relax and enjoy some of the other acts performing (especially ones from your own label!) so you can stay sharp and ready for when it’s your turn
The best way to promote your band, get more fans and create buzz around your music is to play live. There is no better way to engage and connect with people than to perform in front of them. Plus, playing live is just plain fun!
Playing festivals can really take your band to the next level because you will be performing for a much larger audience than at a typical venue. Often, musicians who are signed to major labels will perform at festivals. Festivals are big business and if you can land a gig at one, you should jump at the opportunity.
If you have never played a festival before, here are some tips on how to succeed.
