This is the last of four tracks from my second album, “The Unfinished Business of Science and Technology.” It is an hour of instrumental music, intended for use by documentary filmmakers, television documentary makers and other independent filmmakers in need of music for their projects. As with all my music, this track uses only the sounds of nature and science for inspiration, and it was created using only acoustic instruments, field recordings and digital audio recording equipment.
The piece has a very simple structure — three sections that are each played twice in a row — but it is rich in meaning. It is about the nature of time, and it also evokes memories of a time long ago when people gathered together on Sundays to listen to the radio as they did their work, or as they ate their meals. It was also an attempt to capture the feeling of a time when there was still hope for humanity’s future, before the world was ravaged by war and environmental
