Top 80s and 90s Electronic Dance Music Songs to Keep You Pumped Up


You’ve probably heard by now that the 80s and 90s were the best decades for electronic dance music. I’m here to prove it. First, a little bit about me: my name is Jesse, and I’m originally from New York but currently live in San Francisco. I love running, working out and dancing – not only do they keep me in shape, they also help me escape the stress of my day-to-day life!

I’ve been writing songs since I was a child, and when I learned how to use Garageband two years ago to create beats, I was thrilled. Nowadays, many of my songs are inspired by the electronic sounds of the 80s and 90s.

In this blog post, I’ll write about some of my favorite old school electronic dance songs and why they’re so great. So get ready to get pumped up!

The world of electronic dance music, or EDM as it’s somewhat controversially called these days, is one of the most vibrant, ever-evolving and exciting genres of popular music.

In the last 20 years the genre has grown from a handful of underground scenes into a worldwide phenomenon, with major festivals and events like Electric Daisy Carnival selling out stadiums and selling hundreds of thousands of tickets in minutes.

EDM has had a huge influence on pop music, with songs like Swedish House Mafia’s “Don’t You Worry Child” and Calvin Harris’ “Feel So Close” bridging the gap between underground producers and pop singers, as well as being some of the best workout songs around.

This list is based on what I think are the best 80s and 90s EDM songs, which helped to shape the sound of modern pop music. I’ve only included one song per artist to give other artists a chance to shine through; you can probably guess which iconic artists have multiple songs that could have made this list (I’m looking at you Daft Punk).

“The 90s are back” some say, and music is one of the most important elements that characterize this decade. In fact, as soon as we listen to a song from the 90s, all of our memories come back in a second, making us feel nostalgic and happy at the same time.

The electronic dance music has certainly been one of the greatest things the 90s have given us. It was the decade that saw new genres such as techno, trance and house music emerge. All these genres were fueled by revolutionary new technologies; with the help of computers and electronic instruments, people were able to create a whole new world of sounds.
