I have a few hundred others that I don’t use because they just don’t work well for my style of music or for the message of the songs that we sing in worship each week. Let’s break down tips for choosing the right drum beat.
1) The drum beat should be catchy and memorable, but not too busy and overwhelming.
2) The tempo should match your song tempo
3) The overall style and feel should fit your song style
4) The groove should fit the chord structure of your song (see below)
5) The dynamics of the drums should be catered to your band mix, sound system, and/or room acoustics
