|
| Q:
Can you introduce your project for us please. |
|
Since the late nineties I've
been composing music, at the beginning it was just at a very
low technical level, then I started upgrading to more advanced
music software, and in the meantime I was inproving my musical
skills.
In the year 2009 I decided to put my music on Myspace, first
of all in the Solarcamel page, with electronic music, and
then in Polarcamel, with more classical genre pieces. I was
very soon surprised by the many positive comments I received
about my compositions; I must say that this gave me more energy
and more motivation to keep composing, and to invest money
in the most modern technology for music production. |
|
Q:
How did you get Solar Camel started and
why? |
|
I definitely wanted to make
some people listen to my music, since till 2009 I was the
only one to listen to it, except some friends and relatives.
I was looking for a nickname, so I found an anagram of my
family name, "Solar camel", that is quite cool,
and also ecologic, that is always a good thing! |

|
| Q:
What would you say is the vision behind the
Train in a Rainbow album? |
|
During a period of my life I
used go to work by train; I noticed that it was relaxing,
for sure more relaxing than car, because it's a little bit
like being cradled, and it's easy to dream that way, looking
at the horizon. I composed the song "Train in a Rainbow",
that is the only one with lyrics, thinking about those train
trips. I tried to represent, mostly with the bassline, the
repetitive feeling of being on a running train, and thinking
of beautiful things.
The whole album has a dreamy feeling, because of the sounds,
and first of all because of the melodies. |
|
Q:
Where did the interesting title come from? |
|
I think that when you are
looking forward to seeing somebody that you care about,
you can travel with your imagination, and it's a little
bit like being in a rainbow, no? And then you can find a
treasure at the foot of a rainbow! |

|
|
Q:
Can you tell us something about your
studio and how you work there?
|
|
I work in
my home studio, that has the most advanced technologies
for music production: a Yamaha Clavinova digital piano,
a good audio card, and many fantastic audio samples, especially
for the orchestral music instruments. I've been using the
Reason software for some years, but now I'm using Sonar
8.5. |
|
Q:
You have the other album Roots and Wings
available as Solar Camel - can you tell us a bit about that
release? |
|
"Roots and Wings"
is my album with classical/new age pieces. I have rearranged
some old tracks ("Il pleut", "Lullaby",
"Film melody"), and added some new pieces. This
album contains 14 virtual orchestra / solo piano pieces, always
based on melody. |

Q:
You also have the Polar Camel project
- how does that one differ from Solar Camel?
|
|
The Polar
Camel includes my classical pieces, while the first one includes
only electronic music. I wanted to have a second Myspace page,
because 10 tracks is not enough in order to get the different
genres of my compositions be known. |
|
Q:
What do you consider to be your best
work to date and why?
|
|
Electronic
genre: "Moonlight", I think it is well arranged
and it really brings your mind to the moonlight reflected
by the sea.
Classical genre: "Unexpected snow", I composed
it very quickly, and it is based on an intense emotion:
I think I managed to turn that emotion into music, and if
you listen to that piece I hope you'll feel the same emotion.

|
|
|
|
|
|
| Q:
What do you see as the future for your music
- what are your goals? |
|
I think I'll
keep composing classical pieces, for piano and virtual orchestra. |
|
Q:
Do you have any upcoming projects that
you could tell us about? |
|
My last composition,
"Riflessi", is on my Polarcamel page: I think it's
one of my best pieces, it combines classical instruments and
some modern effects. I will compose more music in this style. |
