MORPHEUS
MUSIC INTERVIEW - KRUSSELDORF
23.11.11 - On release of From
Soil To Space.

|
| Q:
Can you tell us a bit about your musical activities
since Bohemian Groove. |
|
After
Bohemian Groove I immediately started completing my Atrium
Carceri album for CMI, working on my new album with Behind
Blue Eyes as well as working on new sound techniques for
my dubstep project KRONOX. |
|
Q:
What would you say has been shaping your music
most in the build up to From Soil To Space? |
|
Experimentation,
growing tired of "psy chill" and striving to create
new genres and subgenres. |
| |
| Q:
Did you have a particular vision or goal when
beginning the new album? |
|
I wanted
to create a glitch-album that was harmonious, an album that
was dark but not monotonous, an album that was complex but
not cheezy. |
|
Q:
How do you decide what range of styles to record
in (do you plan a variety of moods/tempos/styles or do you
just record what comes)? |
|
I produce
a wide variety of styles, but most don't make the cut for
a Krusseldorf album when I am trying to direct the atmospherics.
My albums tend to stick together to create a sense of coherence,
a world of sorts. The process is quite long when I sit down
and narrow down the flow and style of an album. On From Soil
to Space I got some help from Aleph Zero as well. |

|
 |
| |
Q:
How do you decide the playing order for
the tracks on your albums?
|
|
I
try to move both in a harmonious scale and create a storyline
through the album. Sometimes the scale doesn't match, but
the tracks story does and so I have to scratch my head trying
to solve the problem. This is a long process as well. |
|
Q:
How did you begin From Soil To Space and how did you conclude?
|
|
A
few of the tracks were already completed when I did Bohemian
Groove, just they didn't fit on that album. I remixed and
went back to those tracks when narrowing down the setting
and style of From soil to Space, that is when it all started
I reckon. |
| |
| Q:
Were there any surprise moments for you
as an artist in creating this music? |
|
Creating
the track, Deep Fulgin, I realized that mixing my style
from Atrium Carceri with Krusseldorf might not be such a
dumb idea after all.... |
|
Q:
Do you have any background details that
might explain or provide deeper understanding of some of the
music? |
|
Close your eyes, turn off your lights and listen closely to
what is going on. |
| |
|
|
|
 |
| |
Q:
How do you see the Krusseldorf project
developing since its inception?
|
|
Always mutating
through different genres and forms, ever changing. |
|
Q:
Do you have any other projects on the
go that you would like to plug for Krusseldorf fans?
|
|
I think KronoX
might be the closest one, being a dubstep project. Also I
am starting up a small dubstep label that will house artists
like Noisy Neighbour (Sienis dubstep project), Pitch Glitch
(Zekazy dubstep project) and my own KronoX. Expect something
well produced and different soon enough. |
