Q:
What was the path that led you both into the
world of music?
|
|
We believe that music is the
best means of communication, expresses feelings, emotions
and thoughts.
We used to listen to many different kinds of music inspired
from the record collection that our parents already had.
We continued collecting vinyls and cds from different kinds
of music and now we are proud to declare that we have a
very respectful collection that still grows up.
This mixture of sounds: ambient,chill-out, dub, downtempo,
IDM, triphop, goa-trance, psychedelic trance, psychedelic
rock, ebm, industrial, goth led us to the world of music. |
|
Q:
Your promotional material explains that
Ambient Intelligent Application
formed following a period of travelling and attending festivals.
How did you
make the transition from music listeners to music makers?
|
|
After enjoying the sounds
at Boom Festival ’99, South Afrika 2000 (millennium
party), Voov Experience 2000, Solaluna 2001, Samothraki
Dance Festival 2002, Samothraki Dance Festival 2003, Zuvuya
Gathering 2005 (Chios Island) and Samothraki Gathering 2005
at which we spun tunes as chill-out djs we decided that
the time to create our own and unique sound had come. There
was always the question of how these sounds that we hear
are created.
The experience from the festivals gave the opportunity to
make our music ideas reality. We had the music background
to combine different styles and experiment with music softwares
and hardwares.

|
| Q:
What was your shared vision when you
set out to make Physical Moments? |
|
Well the shared vision and
the idea of forming came in Samothraki Island in the year
2005 when we performed as chill-out djs (not with the name
A.I.A). A part of the tracks of the dj sets was live compositions.
Our audience enjoyed it and that was the beginning for creating
Physical Moments. Our common vision is to create sounds
that could be for home or festival listening. |
|
Q:
What are your individual interests, areas of specialization
or focus when
you work together?
|
|
Well regarding the individual
interests since we are brothers we have common thoughts
and common ideas. The only difference we have is the age
:-)
Often we have the same ideas about a track and we try to
transform these ideas into sounds. We try to figure out
what would be the sound that will generate emotions and
make the human mind to travel and enjoy the magic of music.

|
|
|
|
Q:
Where do you make your music and what
is your studio like?
|
|
The studio
is not set up yet. Therefore we were not able to produce
the 100% of the sound that we want.
We believe that in couple of months, our studio will be
ready and more sounds will be released out there…
:-)
|
|
Q:
Can you tell us something about your
sources - what equipment do you
enjoy using, where do you get your sounds?
|
|
Our production approach is
mostly software related. We use a lot of vst instruments
and samples. We are searching and experimenting with different
music software (from central host program until the simplest
smallest program we could find) and operating systems.
We own an amount of computer systems (4 laptops and 2 towers)
running windows, leopard and Linux, along with midi controllers
synths: novation x-station, korg micro-x.
We have access to sound engineering schools where some friends
of ours are teachers, and so we have the ability to try
hardware equipment in order to choose and buy which are
appropriate for our sounds.

Q:
How did you come to work with Ajana Records
and what do you like about
the label? |
|
The co-operation
with Ajana Records started in 2006 when one of us became
label dj.The label trusted our sounds and gave us an opportunity
to present our musical thoughts. It is our home label and
we have a unique communication and connection with Mouka
owner of the label. We will support his effort to spread
music to the world since only music can bring peace and
love to human race.
|
|
Q:
Now that you have a finished product
on the shelves as it were - how do
you feel about your new album and has there been any special
feedback?
|
|
We are happy
with the fact that our first album is released.
We are much excited but we believe that if the studio was
ready the final result would be much better.
Regarding the feedback, we received some good comments for
our sounds but we still waiting and it is early to have
a clear view.
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Q:
What else currently are you enjoying
musically at the moment?
|
|
When there
is time we try to re-listen sounds from our collection but
also to add and listen to new stuff. Desiderii Marginis,
Mike Sheridan, Bersian Quartet, Half Dub Theory, Somnia
records, some post alternative rock sounds and ethnic sounds
are on our headphones.
|
|
Q:
What are your future plans - anything
on the go imminently and any more
distant dreams? |
|
We are preparing
to launch our official web-page.
We are in contact with organization teams here in Greece
to make a release party for the album.
And of course new sounds are on the way… stay tuned
on A.I.A |
